PetLife Social Code of Conduct
PetLife Social exists because of trust — between pet owners, between service providers and the pets in their care, and between everyone who shares this community. This Code of Conduct applies to every user: pet owners, service providers, shelters, and sponsors alike.
1. Treat every member — human and animal — with respect.
Harassment, hate speech, threats, or targeted abuse of any user will not be tolerated, whether in posts, comments, messages, reviews, or event listings.
2. Animal welfare comes first.
Content that promotes, depicts, or facilitates animal cruelty, neglect, illegal breeding operations, or unlicensed animal sales is prohibited and will be removed immediately, with the account permanently banned. Suspected animal cruelty may also be reported to local authorities.
3. Be honest — especially in adoption, re-homing, and marketplace listings.
Misrepresenting a pet's health, temperament, or history in an adoption or re-homing listing is a violation. Charging deceptive "rehoming fees" with no intent to actually transfer a pet is fraud, will result in an immediate ban, and may be reported to law enforcement.
4. Service providers are accountable for the services they list.
Providers must accurately represent their qualifications, availability, and pricing. Repeated no-shows, cancellations, or client complaints will trigger a moderation review and may affect your provider tier or platform access.
5. No spam, scams, or off-platform solicitation to avoid fees.
Don't use posts, comments, or messages to advertise unrelated products/services, run scams, or solicit users to transact off-platform specifically to avoid service fees.
6. Respect privacy.
Don't share another user's personal information (address, phone number, financial details) without their consent. Location details for playdates and bookings should stay within the intended conversation, not posted publicly.
7. Content standards.
No sexual content, graphic violence, illegal content, or content exploiting minors. Photos and videos should be about pets and the pet-owning community — keep it relevant.
8. Reporting and enforcement.
Any user can report content or another user's behavior. Our moderation team reviews reports and may issue a warning, remove content, suspend, or permanently ban an account depending on severity. Serious violations (animal cruelty, fraud, threats) may result in immediate permanent action without a prior warning. You can appeal any enforcement decision — see your account's Notifications tab for appeal instructions on any action taken against you.
9. This Code of Conduct works alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, not in place of them.
Violating this Code of Conduct is also a violation of our Terms of Service.
